It may sometimes feel as though we will never see BioShock 4 get released but this leaked screenshot has still managed to reignite fan’s excitement for the highly-anticipated sequel.

It has been over ten years since the last entry in the BioShock series was released and with rumours and leaks surrounding a potential fourth entry circulating in recent years, fans are starting to question whether it is ever going to actually happen.

However, BioShock 4 is in active development despite developers 2K hardly talking about the project at all.

Despite BioShock 4 not having received an official reveal yet, a recently leaked image has been discovered from a showcase reel that was shown back in 2021.

According to leaker MP1st, the prototype image was from a 2K Visual Effects Artist and is labelled “Parkside Demo”, the official codename for BioShock 4.

There is not much to see but we now have access to a first-person screenshot showing a strange glowing structure. We can also see a health bar at the top of the screen with another bar underneath (maybe relating to plasmid use).

As well as the weapon UI including ammo, we can also see what look like three abilities in the bottom left which could also be related to BioShock 4’s version of plasmids. Last but not least, we can take our first look at one of the weapons which is seemingly called a Ricochet Shotgun.

Although we can’t gain too much information from this screenshot, it is still exciting considering we have been starved of content from the upcoming sequel.

Hopefully this means BioShock 4 isn’t too far away and with rumours that it will be set in Antarctica, it will make quite a different setting from Rapture and Columbia.
