It looks like there might be a bit of BioShock 4 news coming this year, as a surprise announcement is expected soon.
It’s been 12 years since the last BioShock game released, and news regarding the future of the series has been quiet.
Although 2K announced a new BioShock game was in development in 2019, very little information has been released about it since.

All we really know about it so far is that series creator Ken Levine isn’t involved, and that development is being led by a new internal studio called Cloud Chamber.
A new report now suggests that BioShock 4 may be further along in development than we thought.
According to MP1st, 2K is allegedly preparing for a BioShock announcement “fairly soon”, and that it could come “before the end of summer”.
However, the information doesn’t confirm that the announcement is related to BioShock 4, but just the franchise as a whole.

The report also states that Rapture plays a big role in the announcement, meaning it might be related to the film adaptation by Netflix, or a potential remake of the original BioShock.
BioShock received a remaster for current-gen consoles back in 2016, along with remasters for the second and third games too in one unified collection.
However, the game has never been remade from the ground-up. Not officially at least.
A remake would make sense, considering the series’ 20th anniversary will occur in two years. However, I’m sure BioShock fans are itching to hear about the next mainline game.

Personally speaking, I’m hoping BioShock 4 features a brand new location.
Rapture was interesting, but it’s been featured quite heavily across all three games now.
It’s possible this BioShock-related announcement could occur at Summer Game Fest, which is live on 6 June, 2025.
Geoff Keighley usually makes sure he has a few surprise announcements to reveal there, so we wouldn’t put it past him to end the show on a BioShock reveal.

I guess for now we'll just have to hold our breath and wait to see what this announcement could be.
