Despite the heartbreaking news that Larian Studios has no plans on working on another Baldur’s Gate title, it has not stopped the developers from bringing a new and exciting update to Baldur’s Gate 3.

Last month saw Baldur’s Gate 3 developers Larian Studios announce that they had no plans on working on a possible Baldur’s Gate 4. Despite the team taking a much-deserved break before coming back to work on a brand-new project, it has not stopped them from working on Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Check out the Baldur's Gate 3 launch trailer below!

Announced on April 18, Patch 7 will introduce official modding tools to the game which will allow players to “change up visuals, animations, sounds, stats, and more to overhaul Baldur’s Gate 3.”

However, it is worth noting that Larian uses the phrase “begin introducing”, which may mean that it will add more tools in the future so not everything will be available upon Patch 7’s release.

With Baldur’s Gate 4 not on the cards, adding official modding tools will allow the game’s community to create their own stories which is nice to see the developers encourage.

Not only that but Larian are also reportedly working on “bringing Crossplay and a Photo Mode to Baldur’s Gate 3” but this update will not arrive anytime soon. However, both of these features are exciting news for fans.

As well as fixing leftover bugs and improving the title’s evil endings, Patch 7 is set to be so extensive that players will first be able to access it through a closed beta. Although we do not know too much about this just yet, Larian reveals there will be more information “in the coming weeks”.

With Baldur’s Gate 3 recently sweeping up a bunch of awards at the BAFTA Games Awards, it is no surprise that fans are desperate for more. Luckily for them, Larian is happy to provide.
