A new update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has just been released, bringing back a feature that fans have been asking for since launch.
New content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows may be done, but little tweaks and improvements are still incoming to make it more approachable for new players.
With Ubisoft being in a tricky spot right now, following the cancellation of six different games within the company, it’s good to keep their current games supplied with a steady stream of updates.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is receiving a fresh batch of updates over the next few weeks, launching a roadmap today which teases at the future of the game through to March.

One feature coming in today's update is manual jump, a feature that allows you to jump at any time while roaming the world.

Previously, Yasuke and Naoe could only jump automatically when it made contextual sense to do so, but this new feature will give you back the ability to jump during any moment.
Manual Jump Has Not Featured In Every Assassin's Creed Game
Manual jump is a feature that hasn’t always been included in every Assassin’s Creed game, being omitted from games like Unity and Odyssey, which seems like a bizarre choice considering it’s a parkour game.
While the ability to manual jump isn’t a massive change, it does at least open up a few new free-running opportunities that previously weren’t available.
For example, you can now jump from the ground onto a wall instead of running up it, or leap the gap between different building rooftops. It should introduce a little more flow to your parkour.
To celebrate it, Ubisoft has launched a Parkour Challenge, asking players to send in 60 second clips of their parkour runs utilising the new manual jump feature. Prizes for winners include signed vinyl albums, figurines, and swag, with the Assassin’s Creed community voting on the best entries.
In terms of other new additions in the patch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows also gets a detailed stats page which can be found on the inventory page.
This will allow you to dig into the stats of your loadout, including weapon damage, effects of equipment, how much protection armour gives you, and much more.
The other big feature of this update involves a visual upgrade to critical hits, featuring a visual cue to the animation when you land a heavy blow. It should hopefully communicate a little better when you’ve managed to dole out some serious damage to enemies.
