It seems Ubisoft is forever upsetting the apple cart lately; however, this latest development takes fans’ gripes to a whole new level.

To provide some context here for those who might need it, Ubisoft shut the servers for the original game of the series in December 2023.
The game remained playable until 31 March 2024, but thereafter, it quickly became a husk of what it once was.
For outsiders looking in, it simply seemed to be the natural process of a game reaching the end of the line and being put out to pasture.
But for avid fans, it was a dark time for the franchise.
Two of these fans have decided to send Ubisoft a clear message.
Based in California, the two gamers have painted a rather brutal picture of what it was like to go to play their beloved game only to find it gutted.
The lawsuit, reviewed and shared by Polygon, reads: “Imagine you buy a pinball machine, and years later, you enter your den to go play it, only to discover that all the paddles are missing, the pinball and bumpers are gone, and the monitor that proudly displayed your unassailable high score is removed."
It continued, “Turns out the pinball manufacturer decided to come into your home, gut the insides of the pinball machine, and remove your ability to play the game that you bought and thought you owned.”
That’s quite the scene that’s been set, isn’t it?
As far as the lawsuit is concerned, this is what happened to the plaintiffs now seeking justice.
While fellow fans can admire the passion proudly on display here, they doubt this lawsuit will go anywhere.
“Doubt this goes anywhere,” remarked Altruistic-Ear-5482, “This isn’t the first live service game to shut down. I’m sure they [Ubisoft] covered themselves in the EULA.”
Curious though we are to see how this plays out, we’re not expecting Ubisoft to be taken down in some dramatic twist.
An “uphill battle” awaits the plaintiffs, and we doubt it’s a battle they’ll win.
