Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series is without question one of its most popular IPs and each year fans of the franchise look forward to the next entry.

However, even with Assassin’s Creed Mirage on the horizon, many fans still appreciate an improved version of a previously released title and this is where the benefit of the modding community comes into play.

Check out the Assassin's Creed Origins trailer below!

One of the favourite games in the series in recent years is Assassin’s Creed Origins which was released in 2017, a game which is considered to be the ‘best of the RPG trilogy’. Set during the Ptolemaic period from 49 to 43 BC, accompanied by his wife Aya, you play as Bayek of Siwa, a protector of his people who seeks revenge following the death of his son at the hands of a mysterious group known as the Hidden Ones.

Assassin’s Creed Origins already looks fantastic on PC and with a recent new-gen update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, there’s little doubt that ancient Egypt has never looked better in the world of video games. Yet, what if this gorgeous game looked even better? Well, that’s exactly what has happened thanks to modder MarinkoNL.

“Reimagining the way you view ancient Egypt,” reads the description of the mod called ‘Purity of Egypt’. “Healthier and more lush looking vegetation, bluer sky, white stones and architecture, more realistic looking skins, better sand colour and soft bloom mimicking volumetric sunlighting.”

Just by taking a look at some of the screenshots as well as a trailer via the dedicated Nexusmods page, it’s clear that Assassin’s Creed Origins looks better than ever, and it kind of makes me a little jealous that I am not a PC gamer. Like seriously, if you have a capable PC, the ‘Purity of Egypt’ mod is most certainly worth checking out.

In related news, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have Ezio Auditore DLC, and in our preview of Mirage, we said it’s ‘good old-fashioned stealth action with some modern twists.’

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be released on 5 October for PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
