Ubisoft is developing a brand-new Assassin's Creed game that will bring back a number of classic Assassins from previous games, according to a new report.

Writing for exputer, prominent industry insider and leaker Tom Henderson claims that Assassin's Creed Nexus is a VR-focused title that will bring together fan-favourite characters like Ezio (Assassin's Creed II) Kassandra (Assassin's Creed Odyssey), and Connor (Assassin's Creed III). Okay, I'm not sure who actually thinks Connor is good, but I guess he's coming back whether you like it or not.

Henderson reports that the game "has everything you'd expect from an Assassin's Creed title", including stealth, combat, climbing, and leaps of faith.

Naturally, these features have been reworked to accommodate first-person VR. It sounds like players will be able to choose from two movement options, as is standard for most VR games. If you can handle the potential motion sicknesses, you'll be able to move freely through the world. There'll also be an option to simply point to a spot and teleport towards it.

Assassinations will work exactly as you'd expect them to. Simply sneak up behind enemies and perform a motion to initiate a takedown. Sword combat, meanwhile, will be a case of swinging the sword to block incoming attacks while you wait for an opening.

The leaps of faith, according Henderson, are particularly awesome in VR, and can be activated by striking a pose when at the top of certain buildings.

A recent gameplay leak from Echiketto on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours also seems to corroborate many of Henderson's claims. According to Echiketto, Nexus will be purely focused on self-contained missions, which means no open world or side content. It also sounds like Ezio will be the first assassin we play as in the game.

Ubisoft announced an Assassin's Creed VR game back in 2020, but the publisher has yet to officially share any further details on the game. Hopefully these leaks mean some concrete news is coming soon.
