Ubisoft appears to have a lot on their plate with the Assassin’s Creed series as they look to capitalise on the success of the franchise and push into a future of new games, multiplayer madness, and remakes.
A recent leak spilled from the studio, and it’s pointing to remakes of fan-favourites in the long-running Assassin’s Creed series.
Could the original Assassin's Creed due for a remake?
On the back of the runaway success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft is likely looking to remake the fourth game in the series, and favourite of many, Black Flag.

The epic leak revealed codenames for many projects on the horizon, but one has fans more excited than the others.
Codenamed Obsidian, Ubisoft looks to remake the ocean-faring Black Flag, bringing the classic game up to modern day standards.
When the news made its way to Reddit, fans were, understandably, excited.
Another codename given for a remake is Stardust, and both of these projects have tongues wagging.

“I bet Stardust is AC1,” said one fan of the franchise.
In reply, DevilCouldCry said, “Definitely feels like this is where they're going. Black Flag first (f**king stoked for that), then AC1 and AC2 just make sense as remakes here.”
This would make sense for Ubisoft, as the original Assassin’s Creed games are decades old now, and remakes would give them a new lease of life.
The first game especially is a bit of a mess in hindsight, which hasn’t slipped the notice of Redditors.

“The combat is mediocre, but the mood is pristine. The environmental designs are dated now if you compare them with modern entries, but the magic of exploring AC1 and AC2 is not forgettable,” comments taytay_1989.
A revisit to the past, something the series is known for, would revitalise the series, and fans couldn’t be happier.
As Deadly_Toast says, “AC1 and Bloodlines remake would be the dream.”
