'Assassin's Creed Mirage' Hero Might Have Already Appeared In 'Valhalla'

Fans think they've identified the mysterious assassin in the cover art for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

We thought that we’d have to wait until the upcoming Ubisoft Forward for the next Assassin’s Creed title to be unveiled but as they say, Christmas came early. This week, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the next game in the franchise. The accompanying artwork appeared to feature an unknown assassin but now fans think it might be one of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s characters.

Have you checked out the new trailer for Where Winds Meet yet? This definitely looks like one for Assassin’s Creed fans.

As reported by Gamesradar, the unnamed character in Mirage could in fact be Valhalla’s Basim. If you’re wondering who that is, let me explain although this does mean that Valhalla spoilers lie ahead. You’ve been warned. Basim was born in Baghdad where he joined the Hidden Ones, training to become an assassin. Prior to the events of Valhalla, Basim spent time in Constantinople and England. The human reincarnation of Loki, Basim sets out to take revenge on Odin.

Given that we know the character has links to Baghdad, it’s led many fans to assume that Mirage could be exploring Basim’s younger years - which is a pretty decent theory. Reddit user socialistbcrumb wrote, “There’s a lot of intentionality in this art [in my opinion]. The more simple Altaïr-esque uniform, drawing Basim in a mid-air assassination, a crowded city, a target in the crowd,” whilst AgentOfASignal added, “That’s definitely Basim in that picture, no question.”

Others shared their certainty. Icey-Storm wrote, “That’s Basim in the picture?” with UnderratedNightmare guessing that perhaps the game might focus on “when Basim was truly focused on being a Hidden One and not trying to get revenge on Eivor's past life.” This certainly is convincing. Ubisoft, care to tell us more?
