For many, 2013’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is the pinnacle of the series and we’re inclined to agree.

There aren't many games that have captured the essence of living the pirate life, looting and exploring the seas quite like Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. What’s more, its story will captivate you from start to finish, topped off by one of the most lovable and charismatic protagonists that the series has to offer, Edward Kenway.

Back in July 2023, rumours were making the rounds that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag would be getting a remake, something that would surely be a welcomed addition to fans of the series.

This week, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was mysteriously pulled from sale from the Steam store on PC. Apparently, this sparked rumours that Ubisoft is preparing for the speculative remake. Some have even gossiped that it was removed from sale in desperate hope of boosting sales of the yet-to-be-released and troubled Skull & Bones, a game which originally began life as an expansion to Black Flag.

However, Ubisoft has addressed the rumours as to why Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was pulled from Steam, and the news is not as exciting as many would have hoped as confirmed by a spokesperson who informed Eurogamer.

“We are aware that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is currently unavailable for purchase on Steam," said a Ubisoft rep. “This is due to a technical issue, and our teams are working on a solution to bring it back as soon as possible.”

So there you have it, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag wasn't pulled from Steam in anticipation of the rumoured remake. That being said, hopefully, the game will return to the platform in the coming days.

In other news, the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Red which is set in Feudal Japan and is expected to be released in 2024 has destructible environments and it sounds totally badass!

The next game to arrive in the series is Assassin’s Creed Mirage which has a release date of 5 October 2023 and will be available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox.
