It has officially been ten years since Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was first released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and fans are still desperate for a remake. Although Ubisoft shows no signs of providing us with one, people are taking it into their own hands.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is still widely considered as one of the best instalments in the Assassin’s Creed franchise thanks to its exciting gameplay, ship combat and of course, Edward Kenway himself. Since its release ten years ago, fans have long awaited a remake but with Ubisoft hard at work on upcoming entries such as Assassin’s Creed Hexe and Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, it is safe to say it has its hands full.

However, in the hopes of manifesting it, fans are turning to fanmade remakes to fill the void. One example is that of Youtuber Remastered Gaming who recently created a trailer that gave us a sneak peek at what Black Flag could look like in Unreal Engine 5.

The trailer shows our favourite pirate assassin, Edward Kenway as he perches in the rafters overlooking his target and a chest full of gold. With his hidden blade unsheathed, he leaps silently from the roof and onto his unsuspecting victim. The scene is soon bathed in golden light as he steps out of the room and onto an overlook hanging over the sea where we see his ship, the Jackdaw, awaiting his return.

Although less than a minute long, the trailer gives us an idea at what Black Flag could look like ten years on and it is safe to say that I am now jumping on the remake bandwagon.

In related news, it has been a successful year for the Assassin’s Creed franchise especially here at GAMINGbible with our very own Sam Cawley calling 2023’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage a “leap of faith that sticks the landing” in his review.
