ARC Raiders’ top 3 players in the world have hijacked the game’s leaderboard in order to protest a disliked system within the game.

For the unaware, ARC Raiders’ trials system is a set of weekly objectives available from Level 15 which score you based on how much you’ve completed them.

By completing these objectives, you can earn rewards and compete with other players on the leaderboard to earn more points, as well as the chance to be promoted to higher ranks.

However, trials have proven to be rather unpopular as an endgame mechanic due to the tasks being rather uninteresting and there isn’t much incentive to chase the higher scores on them.

One player back in November put it nicely in explaining why the system isn’t great: “If you are really going for a high-score on trials the game loses every sense of organic gameplay which is the whole gist of why it's so enjoyable in the first place - a raider flare just went up next to me? Nuh-uh, can't check it out because I have to stick to my collecting-plants route or else I'll not get a high enough score to advance into the next bracket!”

It seems that players have had enough, as shown by the current leaderboard scores for the trials system which shows three players being rather upset with Embark Studios’ implementation.

ARC Raiders Trials System Needs To Change, Players Say

As spotted by Reddit user IJustTellTheTruthBro, the number one spot on the ARC Raiders trials leaderboard is taken by a player named “EMBARK_PLEASE”, while second and third are taken by “REWORK” and “TRIALS_SYSTEM” respectively.

The user then goes into detail about why the system isn’t good, breaking down how random the trials are, plus how solo players don’t stand a chance against trios when going for leaderboard scores.

It’s prompted a lot of people to urge Embark Studios to implement changes with the system.

Many players in the replies have agreed with the original poster, saying that the leaderboard system and trials overall need a change.

“Honestly I enjoy objectives on some level, to keep the game interesting. But the way trials are is not my cup of tea,” writes one player in the replies.

“Imma be honest; as a solo player, the moment I said “f*** trials, that s***’s a**.” the game got so much better,” another player adds.

“Knowing how hard it is to do in general then gatekeeping by sniping people is crazy work lol that alone is why the current setup of scheduled events and trials suck. I have hella free time and still hate the way they do events,” a third user writes.

Hopefully this move will catch the attention of Embark, who has been dedicated to improving certain aspects of the game over the past few months with subsequent updates.
