ARC Raiders Players Are Begging for This Adorable Character Change

The "irreplaceable" companion has been replaced

Back in December, ahead of ARC Raider’s brand-new Expedition update, a beloved companion got left behind and despite the tears, fans are already calling out for their replacement.

Launching back in October 2025, ARC Raiders quickly cemented itself as one of the year’s most successful titles and even served as competition in the extraction shooter genre.

Developed by Embark Studios, the extraction shooter has gone from strength to strength thanks to multiple updates, patches, and most recently, a roadmap for the upcoming year and so it is safe to say that ARC Raiders is here for the long run.

However, somebody that is not here for the long run is Scrappy the Rooster, the faithful companion who joined our Raiders across Speranza and who was left behind when we took off to pastures new.

Capable of gathering basic crafting materials, the mechanical rooster has its very own origin story after one of ARC Raiders’ developers shared his story back in November.

It turns out that Scrappy the Rooster was based off of a real life chicken known as Hȧkan and originally, Johan, a 3D artist at Embark Studios, photoscanned him to put into ARC Raiders as a “silly little Easter egg”.

“But then, Hȧkan got his chance to shine,” the blog post reads.

“The team needed an in-game asset that would be used as a “resource producer,” something that would provide you with materials after each raid.

“We cycled through many ideas: robots, cats… robot-cats! But the art team didn’t have time to build them and the meeting stalled, until someone raised their hand and said, in a moment of brilliance, “don’t we have a rooster?””

As a result, Scrappy the Rooster was born and became an “irreplaceable part of the ARC Raiders universe.”

Well, it turns out that Scrappy is in fact replaceable as, after he got left behind in a recent update, fans are ready for his replacement and Reddit user r/AndrewJumpen had a suggestion.

“Dear Embark, please make it possible!” They shared, alongside an image of their own cat in the ARC Raiders universe.

Although this cat, named Ginger, may not be added to the game, it did get the ball rolling on which companions players would like to see next.

Which Animal Would You Like Added?

“I'd like a raven. Famously known for stealing shiny objects,” the top comment read.

However, it was user Floh2802 that had quite a unique idea.

“IDEA: Make multiple animals but each one brings more or less different materials.

“A Raven brings more shiny objects, higher scrap metal yield.

“A cat brings more fabric with it.

“A dog retrieves plastic of different kinds

“And so on and so forth.”

This would definitely be a unique feature and allow the player to select which companion they want based on the materials they may be in need of.

Who knows? Hopefully Embark will take inspiration from this but for now, we mourn Scrappy the Rooster and wish him luck on Speranza.
