'Aquaman 2' Petition To Remove Amber Heard Nears 2.5 Million Signatures

DC fans are once again protesting Amber Heard's involvement with the upcoming Aquaman sequel.

Work on Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is currently well underway and on track for its 2023 release. Director James Wan is back on board alongside Jason Momoa as the titular superhero, and Heard as Mera.

However, a petition to have Heard removed from the project has now passed 2.3 million signatures following the ongoing and highly publicised legal battle between Heard and ex-husband Johnny Depp.

Depp has brought a $50million defamation lawsuit against Heard, alleging that the accusations of abuse against him are defamatory. Throughout the fierce legal battle there have been troubling accusations of physical and emotional abuse on both sides, leading many to call on Warner Bros. and DC to cut, or at least reduce, Heard's role in the upcoming movie.

It's worth pointing out that Depp has lost work as a result of the abuse allegations. Most notably, he was replaced as evil wizard Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spinoff series Fantastic Beasts, with Mads Mikkelsen taking the role in this year's The Secrets Of Dumbledore.

"Men are victims of domestic abuse, just like women. This must be recognized, and action must be taken to prevent a known abuser from being celebrated within the entertainment industry," reads the petition, which at the time of writing has 2,341,944 signatures.

It's unlikely that anything will actually come of this petition, but it's clear that the growing unrest with Heard's role in Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom is getting harder and harder for Warner Bros. to ignore.
