It's no secret that Battlefield 2042's launch was extremely rocky. With severe performance issues, graphical glitches and lack of content, fans of the series were disappointed from the start. On top of this, despite only being out a couple of months, EA DICE are apparently already talking about making the title free to play in hopes of boosting the dismal player count.

How low could the player count be on such a huge franchise? Well apparently it's so low that people are really struggling to even find a game with others they can play against. Ouch. However, not all is lost. Players on PC are able to get refunds through Steam for the game which failed to live up to its promises. However, if you purchased on another platform you're currently out of luck.

Those wanting more of a laugh out of Battlefield 2042 can check out our wins and fails video below.

On 8 February, an anonymous player under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto, a name famously used as the pseudonym for whoever invented Bitcoin, began a petition. The petition sought to push EA DICE to offer a refund for players of Battlefield 2042, no matter which platform they made their purchase on.

Within the first day it blew past the initial goal of 50,000 signatures, and by day two it had already passed 100,000. Now, the little petition that could is creaking its way up to 200,000 people desperate for their money back, with no signs of slowing down. The petition in no way forces EA to react, but it does show that consumers will not stand for the quality the game was launched in.

The petition states:

"According to many consumer reports, Electronic Arts and DICE did not keep many promises made at launch, and Battlefield 2042 was launched as unplayable. Even today, Battlefield 2042 has bugs that drastically change the in-game experience so much that it’s deemed an unfinished release by many community members."

Once it passes 200,000 it will become one of the top petitions on the platform with a chance to appear on the front page.
