Here are some of the best games to look out for on Xbox in April 2026.

The year 2026 is already in full swing, and we’ve been treated to some absolute bangers on Xbox so far, including Resident Evil Requiem, Reanimal, and Screamer, to name a few

Thankfully, it looks like April 2026 is continuing the momentum of quality video games to enjoy, and if you’re an Xbox gamer, there’s a lot to look forward to. So with that in mind, we’ll highlight some of the best picks this month from the AAA big-hitters to some delightful indie darlings.

Here are the Best Xbox Games to Play in April 2026

Darwin’s Paradox - Release Date: 2 April

Octodad vs Metal Gear Solid

Ok, never once in my life did I ever think we’d get a game that’s a cross between Octodad and Metal Gear Solid, but here we are. Published by Konami, Darwin’s Paradox is an action-adventure that sees you play as an octopus, sneaking and jumping through all sorts of silly shenanigans.

It’s hard to say exactly what Darwin’s Paradox is, so it might be best to check out its free playable demo to see for yourself. At the very least, it looks senseless, fun, and sometimes, we all need a big dose of that.

The Occultist - Release Date: 8 April

Silent Hill meets Condemned

If you remember the Xbox 360 title, Condemned: Criminal Origins, then you know it was a very intense, investigative horror game. Sadly, we’ve not seen anything of that series since its 2008 sequel.

However, if you’re after something of a spiritual successor, then The Occultist, with a hint of Silent Hill vibes, might be your cup of tea. The Occultist has you investigating the disappearance of your father, but what you discover leads you to a path of something more sinister than you first feared.

Replaced - Release Date: 14 April

Cyberpunk 2077 meets Batman: Arkham

Replaced looks like it could be one of the big indie hits of 2026. With its world seemingly inspired by Blade Runner and Cyberpunk 2077, fans of sci-fi utopias will feel a strong connection with this new side-scrolling, action-adventure.

What’s more, with combat counter mechanics reminiscent of the Batman: Arkham series, not to mention stylish sprite visuals, Replaced has all the ingredients to be an absolute banger. Thankfully, ahead of its release, you can see if it plays as well as it looks by downloading its free demo.

Mouse: P.I. For Hire - Release Date: 16 April

Mickey Mouse meets Call of Duty

There’s a good chance that over the last year or so, you’ve seen gameplay of Mouse: P.I. For Hire and thought to yourself, “What on earth is that?” and that would be fair.

Inspired by animations of the 1930s, Mouse: P.I. For Hire blends days of a bygone era with noir storytelling, mixed with high-octane gameplay of the Call of Duty series. Simply put, this game looks like a blast, and it’s only a couple of weeks away. We can’t wait!

Pragmata - Release Date: 17 April

Potentially, this year's sleeper hit!

Pragmata
Capcom

We’ve previewed Capcom’s Pragmata a few times at GAMINGbible, and each time, we’ve come away feeling impressed. Pragmata is a game that’s quite difficult to explain without doing it a disservice.

It’s a sci-fi shooter, set in outer space and with an android girl on your back, you’ll shoot enemies and solve puzzles simultaneously. Thankfully, you can check out its free playable demo to see what all the fuss is about, not to mention give you a good indication as to whether this could be a game for you.

Outbound - Release Date: 23 April

Cosyness on the go!

Outbound could be this year's next beloved cosy game. Travel the countryside in your camper van with your dog, what’s not to love? Grow crops, build new homes, all why going on an epic adventure with up to three friends. Oh, and yes, you can pet the dog. You might just feel all the cosiness by watching its gameplay trailer.

Aphelion - Release Date: 28 April

From the creators of Life is Strange.

Aphelion is developed and published by DON’T NOD, the creators of Life is Strange, Jusant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Just by mentioning those three games alone, you know that the studio's latest offering comes with a seal of quality, at the very least from a storytelling perspective.

In Aphelion, you play as an astronaut named Ariane, and after landing on a frozen planet with her partner, Thomas, a reality-shifting anomaly takes him away, and it’s up to her to save the day. Players will have to use their best exploration and stealth skills if they are to not only save Thomas, but also for Ariane to escape this planet and never return.

Invincible VS - Release Date: 30 April

Mortal Kombat meets Marvel vs Capcom

Based on the hit animated series on Amazon’s Prime Video, Invincible VS is a 2D beat 'em up with a tag gameplay mechanic that will no doubt please fans of Marvel vs Capcom, not to mention brutal gore that will garner the interest of Mortal Kombat fanatics.

Invincible VS is a three-versus-three fighting game that features your favourite characters and locations from the comic book-inspired series. Invincible VS’s roster includes the likes of Invincible, Omni-Man, Atom Eve, Monster Girl and much more. Will this game be able to join the elite ranks of Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat? Only time will tell.
