7 Predictions for PlayStation's State Of Play February 2026

Everything we expect to see

Sara Heritage

With the latest shock reveal of PlayStation’s 12 February 2026 State of Play show, the rumour mill is beginning to run faster than Sonic the Hedgehog.

PlayStation have confirmed the show will run for 60 minutes - plenty of time for all the latest games to have their moment in the spotlight!

It’ll be broadcasted live on YouTube and Twitch at 10pm GMT / 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST on YouTube and Twitch.

They’ve confirmed first-party games will make an appearance, along with eye-catching third-party and indie games headed to PS5. But what’s likely to make an appearance?

Here are the 7 biggest predictions for this week’s showcase. What would you like to see?

A Concrete Release Date for Marvel’s Wolverine

It's already been leaked by an entry on the PlayStation store

Starting this list off with one I'm sure we'll see more of.

A recent PlayStation Store listing in Mexico stated that Marvel’s Wolverine would be released during Q3 2026, which would be between 1 July and 30 September. This lines up perfectly with the 6 month pre-release marketing push we usually see for AAA games like this.

In fact, it could confirm that a fan favourite MCU character will be making an appearance in the game. I’d love to see a deeper dive into the gameplay from September 2025, but I’m desperate for more details on the story.

Teaser For a new God of War Game

The monkey's paw curls...

Okay, dream big with me for a second. God of War: Ragnarok was released in 2022, it's been 4 years. Sure, we had DLC, but...

With the third modern game (you know what I mean) heavily rumoured to be in the works at Santa Monica Studios, it's not impossible that we get a teaser for it.

The only thing we do have is an upcoming TV series with Amazon Prime, with a rather stellar cast already shaping up.

I have my doubts. But I do think we'll get God of War news, even if it's not the one we're hoping for.

Remember back in 2025 when rumours were swirling around a 2.5D Metroidvania action-adventure God of War game that would see us return to the Greece era as Kratos' brother, Deimos? Well, 2025 came and left, and we heard nothing about it. With the upcoming TV show, I think it's likely we'll get something from the franchise.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Update

Gameplay please!

Intergalactic
Naughty Dog

Naughty Dog’s first new IP in over a decade made waves at the 2024 Game Awards. Since then… It’s been pretty quiet, bar a disappointing update late last year.

“Can assure you that Intergalactic is not coming out in 2026,” commented Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier on Reddit.

Nothing ever happens. But - even if it’s coming out in 2027, we’re overdue for a gameplay showcase. I’d love to see how this game actually plays, and to see how

I’m going to go one step further and say I think we’ll get a confirmed release date for 2027. Could it be the 'one last thing'?

Horizon Hunters Gathering Gameplay

This sounds really interesting to me

Guerrilla’s new co-op action game was only announced 4 days ago, and has already divided the internet. Some are loving the slightly Fortnite-esque graphics, others aren’t a fan. Me personally? Thanks for asking! I love it, though I dislike the Horizon franchise. Sorry. I’ll probably give Horizon Hunters Gathering a go though - I really hope we get a look at how the co-op is going to work in action.

The PlayStation blog says you’ll “hunt deadly machines in tactical three-player co-op action and adapt your Hunter for intense missions”.

Even if it's not a gameplay deep dive, I think it's likely we'll see a new trailer.

Xbox Exclusives Coming to PS5

Eat your heart out Mass Effect 5.

Starfield promo
Xbox

Major Xbox first-party titles in 2026 are releasing on PS5, including Fable, Kiln, and Halo: Campaign Evolved. Forza Horizon 6 will also launch on PS5 after its initial debut, proving Xbox is really shifting towards a multi-platform initiative.

Look, if I was just wishful thinking, I’d say it’s only a matter of time before Spyro and Crash Bandicoot would go back home to PlayStation, following the Activision Blizzard acquisition of 2022. But let’s be real.

Following the success of Sea of Thieves and Microsoft Flight Simulator, I’d bet Starfield could be launching on PS5. In fact, there’s already rumours about.

Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls Release

And maybe some new characters?

Arc System Works, best known for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, are lending their fighting game mastery to the Marvel Universe. There was a beta in late 2025, with mixed reviews.

Despite that, I’m thinking that this PlayStation State of Play could be the perfect time for a final 2026 launch window.

I’m expecting Fall, with a sneaky tease of an expanded roster. So far, we’ve got eight confirmed Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls characters:

  • Captain America
  • Iron Man
  • Ms. Marvel
  • Spider-Man
  • Ghost Rider
  • Star-Lord
  • Dr. Doom
  • Storm

A 4Chan leaker has apparently leaked a list of all confirmed fighters, though take this with a pinch of salt.

6/7

Okami 2 Release Date

This is my big one.

The first Ōkami game dropped back in 2006 for the PlayStation 2, and I adored it. So much so, I have an Okami tattoo planned. Even though it was a massive hit with critics, its positive reception only bagged it somewhere around 270,000 copies, a failure, according to its director Hideki Kamiya. Not in my world. Not in the world I’m living in. Following the release of Ōkami HD in 2012 for the PlayStation 3 and 2017 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows, sales numbers exploded, with the franchise now selling over 4.2 million units.

In 2025, nearly 2 decades on, we got the news that Okami 2 was in the works. I think it’s likely we’ll get a gameplay deep dive, and a release date… Please?

7/7

Whether we get that long-awaited Wolverine date or a surprise drop from Capcom, one thing is for sure. We’ll be watching this PlayStation State of Play right along with you, and covering all the latest news.

Remember - you can catch the livestream on Thursday, February 12th, at 2:00 PM PT / 5:00 PM ET via PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

Which of these predictions do you think is a lock, and which is pure copium? Have I missed anything you think is a sure-fire guess?
