It has been just two months since Sony last hosted a State of Play event but with 2026 already shaping up to be an incredible year of gaming, fans are eager to hear more about PlayStation’s part in it.
Back in November 2025, a Japan-focused State of Play took place, giving us insight into some upcoming releases such as Elden Ring: Nightreign’s latest DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, the Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined and many more.
However, with a State of Play airing every February, Sony is yet to announce a date as of yet.
That being said, according to reliable leaker NateTheHate2, February 2026’s State of Play event will take place.

When asked on Twitter if there would be, he simply replied, “There will be, yes.”
As mentioned, Sony is yet to announce February’s State of Play and at the time of writing, we are yet to receive a date so it is worth taking this news with a pinch of salt.
However, with the event taking place annually for the past five years, we have no reason to believe why 2026 would be any different.
Taking place around four times a year, Sony’s State of Play is the perfect opportunity for both third and first-party reveals with a focus on PlayStation Studios.
Which Games Could Be Featured?
As such, we could see more information surrounding titles such as Marvel’s Wolverine, Saros and maybe even Marathon, Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter which launches on PS5 as well as Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Another video game set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which could be featured is Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, an upcoming fighting game with a vague “2026” release date which is set to launch on PC as well as PS5.
Gamers Have Their Own Suggestions
Over on r/GamingLeaksAndRumours, PlayStation fans were eager to see another batch of titles be showcased at the State of Play event.
“I hope they finally show that 2.5D Metroidvania God of War spin-off,” one user shared.
Another hoped for news on the highly anticipated Control sequel.
“Hoping to see Control Resonant.
“I know there was that analyst report but we gotta at least know a release window soon. I can't imagine Remedy waiting until an event like SGF to show it off again.”
With other hopeful suggestions being Intergalactic, Bloodborne remaster (we can only dream), Firesprite’s mysterious next project, and more, we will hopefully get to see what is in store for us over the next few years in February.
For now, let us just hope that Sony hits us with that State of Play air date soon.
