NetEase Games have been on a bit of a roll over the last few years, with Marvel Rivals and Naraka Bladepoint doing a lot to raise the company's stock with gamers the world over.
With both of those being multiplayer games, the publisher has yet to build up much of a reputation with those who prefer to play solo, but a new game from the company could be about to do more than enough to chage that for a very long time.
Blood Message is a new singleplayer third-person action game from NetEase, that places players into the shoes of a nameless messenger and his son, who are travelling across Tang Dynasty China, mostly via the legendary Silk Road trading route (no, not the dodgy one you used to able to find on the dark web).
The first and most obvious thing to note from the announcement trailer and screenshots is that the game looks stunning. It immediately stirs up memories of games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider in certain sections, with environments that should do more than enough to excite the Indiana Jones wannabes amongst you.

The gameplay is a mixture of exploration, relatively simplified combat and quick-time events, if the trailer gives us a complete summation of what to expect from the full release. Though it perhaps doesn't do anything groundbreaking, it looks like a case of a deliberate less is more approach from the developer and publisher, whilst still giving the player plenty to do.
Blood Message's real strength is almost certainly going to be in the depth of history that it allows the player to explore, with the game probably being the most high fidelity look we've ever had at that period of Chinese history.
Unfortunately the game doesn't yet have a confirmed release date, though it will likely be arriving in 2026, if NetEase's previous record of announcements to releases is anything to go by.
