I’m not sure I’ll ever tire of Fortnite, but if you are looking to add a new battle royale into your game rotation, you may want to check out SUPERVIVE.

Developed by Theorycraft Games and published by NetEase, SUPERVIVE is a brand new free battle royale that’s launched on PC via Steam.

“The action battle royale with endless playstyles,” the tagline reads.

“Slam into all-out, multi-squad teamfights in this lethal, fast-paced brawl in the sky. Unlock gear, theorycraft builds, and bring your gamebreaking loadout into every match.”

Allow me to break that down a little further.

SUPERVIVE arrives following a very successful beta period that saw the game garner 90% positive reviews.

Players can select from over 20 ‘hunters’, with each hunter boasting a unique playstyle, from “an unstoppable mecha paladin” to a “fae-augmented blink assassin”.

How does this lead to those “endless playstyles” the tagline referred to?

Well, throughout each round, you’ll unlock Relics which totally alter the way you play the game.

From what I can gather, there are a ton of relics (no exact number has been confirmed) and these will offer you things like power-ups and new techniques, allowing you to build a, well, build that suits you.

There are several game modes including trios and arena (4v4), as well as custom game lobbies.

And devs are hoping to support and evolve SUPERVIVE for “years to come”.

As I said, this one’s totally free-to-play and it’s already garnered some positive reviews.

Currently, SUPERVIVE sits at ‘Very Positive’ in terms of its all-time reviews, with players praising the title’s combat gameplay and varied roster.

“Up there with Battlerite for one of my favorite games of all time!!! Amazingly tight and intense PvP content and I REALLY love the new item system,” wrote one player.

Another added, “Gameplay is great! Movement is crisp and responsive, roster is incredibly unique, build diversity is at an all time high. Armoury could maybe use some tweaks in progression but, overall a great addition.”

I should add though that SUPERVIVE has ‘Mixed’ recent reviews, as the game’s armoury has drawn some sudden criticism.

Following the game’s full launch, it appears that SUPERVIVE has implemented gacha mechanics.

While they don’t fall into the category of ‘pay-to-win’, new players or casual players are supposedly put at a disadvantage as they won’t have enough Prisma (what you’ll earn during a game) to roll for better equipment.

Hopefully, the devs listen to the backlash as a few tweaks could easily alleviate this problem, even if it’s simply drastically cutting down the Prisma needed to unlock items.

As SUPERVIVE is free though despite all of this, it’s perhaps still worth giving a go or keeping an eye on to see how devs respond.
