It has somehow been a dozen years since we've had a Splinter Cell game and I, for one, am exceptionally cross about it. My bloodlust may be abated at some point soon, if the remake of the original is as solid as I expect it to be, but a new game is seemingly a pipe dream for the time being.
Fortunately, there is another handy piece of media on the way that actually looks like it could be the tonic us fans all need.
Splinter Cell: Deathwatch is an upcoming animated Netflix release that is set to give us a look at the legendary Sam Fisher in his older years, with the character set to be voiced in the show by Liev Schreiber of Ray Donovan fame.
In announcing the new show, Ubisoft shared a brief statement that hints at what fans can expect when the show does drop next month.

"Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, the animated series based on Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, will premiere globally on Netflix on October 14, 2025. Netflix dropped a new teaser trailer on August 21, giving fans a first look at Sam Fisher (Liev Schreiber) in action. He's visibly older, but as stealthy and dangerous as ever. While it's still unclear to viewers what his mission is, Sam says that it's personal."
They have also just dropped a new teaser that's a full scene from the show, with plenty of hand-to-hand combat to sink our teeth into.
In a post sharing the trailer on the Discussing Film X/Twitter page, fans were very positive about what they'd seen from the brief snippet.
"Sam Fisher in animated form is something fans have been waiting on for years. With Netflix dropping ‘SPLINTER CELL’ this October, it feels like the perfect revival for the franchise," one response read.

Another added, "The animated CGI actually is not half bad we might have something great here."
A third reflected the sadness of many, by bringing up the dearth of game releases related to the franchise, saying, "Feels like Netflix is dodging the real question, where’s the proper game sequel?"
In any case, what we've seen do far seems to continue the run of good form that Netflix has been on with animated series.
Hopefully the response will give Ubisoft the motivation it needs to kick the development of the next game into action and finally give the people what they so richly deserve.
