Ubisoft and Netflix have dropped a trailer for the animated adventures of Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch.

The show will follow Fisher in a brand-new adventure starring Liev Schreiber as the covert protagonist.

Arcane was a huge hit for Netflix and it has been joined by some of gaming's greats

Announced as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch will be “a sharp new take on modern espionage in the hybrid-war era.”

The trailer shows all kinds of stealth action and gadgets that fans will love and remember - it doesn’t take away the sting of not having a new game, but perhaps this is Ubisoft remembering it has more IP than Assassin’s Creed.

It has been over a decade since the last Splinter Cell game and fans haven’t forgotten the wondrous stealth sections and covert technology from the series.

These will come to life in this animated adaptation as Netflix once again broadens its gaming catalogue of shows.

According to the promotional material, the show currently has no release date, but Netflix has unveiled the creative team behind the project.

“The series comes from Ubisoft Film & Television and animation studios Sun Creature and Fost. It’s directed by Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage, and the head writer is Derek Kolstad (John Wick)”

While the trailer doesn’t show a lot, it is instantly recognisable as we see Sam’s trademark night-vision goggles sinking below some water.

We get a shot of Sam himself, also submerged, while he seemingly flashes back to a funeral for a man named Douglas Shetland “Beloved Father.”

This all happens underneath Schreiber’s gravelly voice delivering the line, “Once you get used to the shadows, you see bad people for who they really are. And they’ll never see you coming for them.”

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch will join shows such as Arcane, Tomb Raider, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Castlevania, as another part of a strong Netflix line-up for fans of games.
