The idea of the console wars and a genuine competitiveness between fans of the different manufacturers really does feel pretty archaic at this point, particularly with multiplayer gaming being so prominent across the board.
We all want to be able to play with as many people as possible, as well as our friends who may have chosen to go with a different platform. That's why so many multiplayer-focused games are now available with cross-play, finally allowing us a seamless experience between consoles and PC.
That does leave single-player games as the best potential port of call for console manufacturers who still want to have that extra unique selling point for their hardware. Still, there are less console exclusives than ever, to the point where it has now become a bit of a meme to proverbially hit PlayStation fans over the head with.
Even arguably the most iconic series on the console is now available elsewhere, with The Last of Us Part I & II now both available to PC players on Steam. That has left Xbox players in the wilderness though, and there is always a consistent level of chatter about when, or if, they'll see those games on their favourite console.

After a link the second game was found in the German Xbox Store, fans became quickly and predictably excited, sharing the potential early leak over on Reddit.
They were brought crashing quickly back down to Earth, though, by plenty of comments explaining exactly what had happened. "For some reason, the German Xbox Store has links for several Sony games and has done for years. Likely because of the PC versions and the way the tag system works. Since this is nothing new, it doesn't seem like this is evidence of anything," the mod for the subreddit explained.
"I played Horizon Zero Dawn on PC and I don't regret it, it was a good game. I don't think it will appear on Xbox, it's been too long since the game came out," another added.
Another put forward their own theory about how this may have happened, saying "Advertisers are buying competitor keywords on Google Ads that lead to their own landing page all the time. Not sure what mistake can spawn a search result entry with no ad label like this though."

Fortunately, Xbox players still have plenty of games to be getting on with, even if they won't adventuring in the post-apocalypse any time soon.
