Zack Snyder announces Rebel Moon AAA RPG game in the works

Zack Snyder has revealed that a Rebel Moon AAA RPG game in the works, based after the events of the two films.

Earlier this year, Snyder let slip that a Rebel Moon RPG was in the works - and it turns out, he was indeed telling the truth.

If you’re clicking on to us for the first time tonight, welcome. Gamescom’s Opening Night Live is underway - and we’re bringing you the very latest news from the Geoff Keighley fronted showcase. As was promised, Zack Snyder has taken to the stage to reveal the first trailer for his highly anticipated Rebel Moon film. Split into two parts, the sci-fi epic is due to debut its first part on Netflix on 22 December. The film is inspired by both the works of Akira Kurosawa and George Lucas’ Star Wars universe. You may be wondering, why is this being showcased at a gaming event? Well, Snyder also confirmed that he is developing a AAA RPG game based on the film. Cue excited screaming.

Take a look at the trailer for the film below.

See? Snyder’s presence at the event makes perfect sense now. On stage, Snyder confirmed that studio Super Evil Megacorp is working on the game, and it’ll include single-player and co-op elements with further details to come in the near future. It’ll also be set after the events of the two Netflix films. Netflix Games and The Stone Quarry will assist with development.

We saw this one coming. In an interview earlier this year, Snyder let slip, “I don’t even know if I’m supposed to talk about it - [it] is this RPG that we’re doing which is just literally insane. It’s so immersive and so intense. It’s so huge. We talked about how we would do the game and I just said ‘Let’s go.’ There’s more coming, but all I’m saying is it was pitched to me - and I’ve always wanted to do a game - and they said you could do it at this scale or you could do it at a ridiculous scale, so I was like well clearly, ridiculous scale is the way we’re doing it.”

Now we know exactly what he was talking about.
