In this week's episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney opted not to use de-aging technology in an Anakin flashback.

De-aging technology has always split opinion but for the most part, Star Wars has utilised it well. From Leia’s de-aged appearance in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story to Luke’s in The Mandalorian, this kind of technology has created a number of memorable moments for Star Wars fans.

In this week’s episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin looked set to follow in his kid’s footsteps after a flashback showed the Padawan duelling with a young Obi-Wan but for whatever reason, Lucasfilm opted not to use de-aging technology. Don’t get wrong, the flashback was certainly one of the highlights of this series, but Anakin just looked much older than he should have. Well, one fan has fixed the issue and the scene looks so much better for it.

Next up on the Star Wars roster is Star Wars: Andor. Check out the trailer below ahead of the show’s 31 August release.

YouTuber Outlaw Video Production de-aged Hayden using similar technology to what Lucasfilm has used in the past and it’s quite simply a work of art. Hayden looks exactly as he did 20 years ago and damn, this has made me nostalgic. Take a look below.

Unsurprisingly, people flooded the comments with adoration. Brad Thomas wrote, “The frame at 10 seconds is absolutely phenomenal. Looks exactly like how Hayden looked as a 19-year-old. Fantastic job, mate. Disney is just downright confusing for deciding not to de-age Hayden's face,” while Minecrash said, “Dude, you are one person and made it look this good, and Disney is a billion dollar company that didn't do anything. Enough said.”

Obi-Wan Kenobi hasn’t been the straightforward success it looked posed to be. Fans have criticised the lack of stakes within the plot, and the show has also contained some weird ship mechanics and fight sequences. That being said, a second season could be on the way and I think we’d all be down to see it anyway.
