One of 2023’s most successful releases will be making its way to the Xbox Series X later this year after spending the first few months of its lifespan on the PlayStation 5 and PC.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is still set to get its Xbox Series debut later on this year according to developer Larian Studios. So far, the August release has only been available for PlayStation 5 and PC users but now Xbox users will be able to get in on the action. With the Dungeons & Dragons inspired RPG set to be a big contender in the 2023 Game of the Year, it is no wonder players are desperate to get their hands on it and it appears the Xbox Series release for Baldur’s Gate 3 is still on track.

“Latest on the Xbox - being actively playtested, still on schedule for this year,” said Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke. “We’ll announce the exact release date when we’re sure it’s done.” This comes after it was announced the Xbox port was delayed due to technical issues back in February, mainly due to issues with the split-screen version not working for the Series S.

Although fans were told to expect Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series between September-December and we are hurtling our way through that time frame, the RPG being one of the best-rated PlayStation exclusives of all time means it is worth the wait. The latest instalment in the Baldur’s Gate series is being praised for its gripping storyline, replayability and fantastic bunch of cast and characters.

In our review written by our very own Ewan Moore, we praised its scale and scope as something we have never seen before. “I have gleefully joined the ranks of Baldur’s Gate 3’s evangelical, and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” our review reads. “In a year groaning under the weight of so many exemplary games, it is frankly astounding to me how much taller Baldur’s Gate 3 looms over the rest of the pack. I’m not sure we’ll ever see anything quite like it again.”
