Xbox users around the world have discovered a cheeky exploit that’ll net you a free game worth $60.
Games are expensive which sucks because some absolute bangers have been dropping this year.
You’ve got Crimson Desert, Invincible Vs, Thomas & Friends: Wonders of Sodor, the list goes on.
But if you’re looking for a new game to play without wanting to spend a penny, look no further than Xbox’s latest error.
As all Xbox owners will know, the company likes to throw a bone your way every now and then in the form of a free-to-play weekend.

Free Play Days gives you a handful of titles to play without the need for Xbox Game Pass and one of its latest is the hit AAA fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Take control of iconic Dragon Ball characters like Goku, Vegeta, Frieza, the God of Destruction Beerus and many more. DLC not included.
It’s truly a fantastic fighting game. If you’re into all of the complexities, the in-depth combo system is otherworldly but there are simple auto-combos for the more casual players out there.
However, if you like what you play there’s actually an exploit that’ll net you the game for free, when it probably shouldn’t be.

Olio - Yvan_Dureve on X shared a simple guide but all you need to do is download the Xbox One version of the game with Free Play Days.
Once downloaded, simply boot it up but before you jump in, scroll down on the main menu to the free Xbox Series X/S upgrade. This was an update that simply optimised the game for new-gen consoles but it counts as its own separate version.
When you upgrade, it’ll download the Series X version of the game which will show up as a separate title in your library, but one that you own rather than one you’re borrowing through the free-to-play weekend.
It’s very cheeky but Dragon Ball FighterZ sits in the store with a AAA price tag outside of sales, so why wouldn’t you take advantage and bag the game for free instead?
Unfortunately, you’ll be missing all of the DLC characters but you could always buy the season passes with the money you would have spent on the actual game, if you enjoy it that much of course.
If you haven’t taken advantage of this exploit yet you have until Monday, 4 May to do so.
Funnily enough, this isn’t the only blunder the Xbox Store has made in relation to free games.
A couple of weeks ago, a glitch in the store made the Fallout-like RPG Wasteland Remastered free. You didn’t need Xbox Game Pass; you didn’t need to sign up to anything, it was just free for some random reason.
Unfortunately, those who claimed the game at the time were unable to play as when you tried to boot it up your console simply wouldn’t let you, but the game’s publisher has swooped in with good news.
