It has only been a few days since the launch of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and we're already being teased with a possible spin-off for Venom.

The gloopy villain and sometimes antihero Venom is a big focus of the latest Insomniac game, Marvel's Spider-Man 2. From the footage at the end of the first game, fans eagerly anticipated Venom's entry into the game's universe. Venom is a huge fan favourite and Insomniac's senior narrative director, Jon Paquette, said that he wanted this "to be one of the best Venom stories you've ever experienced." We think they nailed it, and the community is eager to see more.

Paquette was asked in a recent interview whether we would see a Venom spin-off, similar to the Miles Morales spin-off we got in 2020. Paquette is cautious and stated "Here's what we're doing. We're focused on 'Spider-Man 2', and what we're gonna do is we're gonna wait to see how the fans react."

If this is the case, then the spin-off could become a lot more of a solid plan, as fans seem to love Venom. It's still too early to say what Insomniac will do next, we may get DLC for the sequel game and they have other games in the pipeline. "We'll kind of talk about stuff after we've had time to sleep and take vacations" Paquette continued.

There's plenty of material for the developer to utilise if a spin-off is likely. "There's such a rich universe there, and there's a lot that the comics have done. We tried to take all that in, and then forget about it, and think what would be best for our characters and our franchise" added Paquette.

Let's all get to telling Insomniac just how amazing Spider-Man 2 is then, eh?!
