This upcoming base building survival game just got an exciting update on Steam, although it might seem like slightly disappointing news for those of you who are excited to get your hands on it again…
This is probably the most apt one of our titles is ever going to get, because this one really does feel like someone took the survival crafting elements of Valheim and stuck them into Starfield’s first-person shooter, spacefaring setting.
Hot off the back of its extended playtest on Steam, which ended earlier this month, Creepy Jar just announced that their upcoming title StarRupture will be officially exiting early access at the start of next year.
Although the January 2026 release date may be a little later than fans were expecting, it seems that the recent playtests are to blame for the update.

“We know you will need to wait a little bit longer than you originally anticipated to set foot on the Arcadia-7 planet surface, but the extra time means more polish, more improvements, and more reasons for you to enjoy StarRupture when it launches on Steam early next year”, Creepy Jar revealed in a post on the Steam storefront.
On the plus side, they did also release a brand new trailer for StarRupture to celebrate the official release date announcement, which includes a couple of little teasers about upcoming features.
As much as it is a tiny bit disappointing to hear that we’ll be waiting another five months to get our hands on the full release, it is a good sign that the devs are listening to all of the feedback that players offered them during the playtest.
I’m feeling quietly confident that this one will make a pretty big impact when it launches next year, and will hopefully fill that No Man’s Sky-sized hole in my heart.
