Michael Mando, the Far Cry 3 actor who played iconic series villain Vaas Montenegro, has reportedly been sacked from an Apple TV series after an on-set incident.

If you think of 2012's Far Cry 3, the first image that will likely come to mind is the game's protagonist, Vaas. This iconic character is perhaps not only one of the best-known villains in the Far Cry series, but also in video game history as a whole. What’s more, it’s also probably fair to say that Ubisoft hasn't been able to replicate the charismatic charm of Vaas ever since.

The popularity of Vaas contributed towards his return, along with two other popular series villains, Pagan 'Gang' Min (FC4) and Joseph Seed (FC5) in Far Cry 6 DLC in which the players got to be the bad guys. Furthermore, Michael Mando is not only known for playing Vaas in Far Cry 3, but he also brilliantly played Nacho Vargo in the Breaking Bad prequel series, Better Call Saul. Mando’s character in Better Call Saul was charismatic as he was cool and composed. However, according to reports, it seems that Mando isn't as cool and composed as the fictional Nacho Vargo.

Sources of The Hollywood Reporter claim that Michael Mando has been dismissed from the upcoming Apple TV series Sinking Spring, directed by Ridley Scott and Peter Craig. It is believed that Mando was sacked from his role following an altercation with a co-star and has now been recast. Filling the shoes of the dismissed Mando is Narcos star Wagner Moura. The Hollywood Reporter reached out for a comment, however, representatives of Apple declined to respond.

The story of Sinking Springs “follows long-time friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob a house in the countryside, but end up unintentionally revealing and unravelling the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard,” reads the official synopsis.

Back in September 2021, Michael Mando said that he’d be very interested in returning as Vaas, should Far Cry get a live-action TV or movie adaptation. To be honest, we’d like to see that too.

Season one of Sinking Springs will consist of eight episodes and is expected to launch on Apple TV between late 2023 and early 2024.
