The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Drops Epic First Trailer

This looks great!

Nintendo has just shown off a brief snippet of the next Super Mario Bros film, with a gorgeous cinematic video teasing what’s to come next.

The title of the film will be The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it will once again star Chris Pratt’s portrayal of Mario, but this time in space!

The teaser starts with Mario sleeping in the Mushroom Kingdom before a panning camera takes us across the land towards Peach’s Castle, with several Super Mario creatures and enemies popping up along the way.

We then shoot off into the night sky where the title card is revealed, and I can’t quite contain my excitement.

You can watch the brand-new trailer for yourself below.

The film is teased to not only take inspiration from the Mario Galaxy games but also inspiration from other Mario games as well, so there’ll be plenty of references from all of the various eras of everybody's favourite plumber.

The full cast from the first film is returning, as well as new characters who haven’t been revealed yet, but we know Yoshi will be in the film based on the end-credits of the previous film. It'll be interesting to see if Yoshi gets a voice actor or if they'll just have him make generic Yoshi noises; I'm hoping for the latter.

In terms of other characters we can expect to see, some good guesses include Rosalina (obviously), the Lumas (one of which was seen in the first film) and potentially Bowser Jr, but I reckon that's less likely.

At a glance, the film already looks incredible, and dare I say more like the games than the first film was, which says a lot as the The Super Mario Bros. Movie did a good job of capturing the Mushroom Kingdom and turning it into a film location.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will drop in cinemas April 2026, which honestly isn't long to wait so that's very exciting.

Of course, when an exact release date does drop as well as additional casting, we'll bring those updates to you.

In related news, it's also been announced that both Mario Galaxy games will be arriving on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 courtesy of a new bundle. That came alongside the reveal of Mario Tennis Fever and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

What a day for Mario fans!
