The Legend Of Zelda fans slam live-action Link and Zelda casting update

Damn, I missed the cut-off

Like it or not, the live-action film adaptation of The Legend of Zelda is in production, and the casting directors are looking for our princess and hero.

According to industry leaker DanielRPK, whose track record is spotty at best, Nintendo is looking for actors aged 16-23 for both Link and Princess Zelda.

Both characters are canonically young adults, and the age of the actors would give Nintendo and its production partners plenty of years to make sequels.

This hasn’t escaped the notice of some, with one fan noting, “I hope they are all young and mostly unknown actors so we can have a couple of movies without delays or cast changes.”

Fans, after hearing the rumour, are torn on this update.

“I don't want a young child to be Zelda and Link, WTF,” said one Twitter user.

The replies to this comment quickly point out that in most of the games, the characters are teenagers, and sometimes even younger.

The age range seems pretty perfect to me, but fans are calling out Nintendo for this choice.

“The age range of the actors gives me low hopes, at least if they keep the characters between 16-18 (extremely childish tone)” commented another user.

Another fan exclaimed, “I'm already seething. This shouldn't be happening. They are going to f**k it up. I don't trust anyone on this planet to do Zelda justice.”

Thankfully, it’s not all doom and gloom, as lots of other commenters are jumping in to say that this age range should be perfect for the film, as long as Nintendo picks the right story to adapt.

“Still wondering if they'll adapt Zelda 1, OoT, BotW or a whole new narrative,” wonders this user.

Hopefully, we’ll hear who snags the roles pretty soon, seeing as Nintendo has already announced the release date of the film, and production needs to start soon.
