The Boys star reveals which scene almost gave him a panic attack

Filming can be intense from time to time

There’s no denying that The Boys is not only one of the best shows in recent years but it’s also one of the most morally wrong too. Though to be fair, in our own corrupt wicked ways, it’s why we love this series too.

A live-action adaptation of the anti-superhero comics written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys is brought to life by Epic Kripke and made its debut on Amazon Prime Video in 2019, and since that time its popularity and willingness to push the boundaries have grown exponentially now that we’re into its fourth season. That being said, I can’t help but wonder how far the final and fifth season of The Boys is willing to go.

Just a heads up, we are about to go into spoiler territory for episode three, season four of The Boys, so consider this to be your spoiler warning if you’re not caught up. However, this might be a spoiler warning you’ll be appreciative of before diving in head first.

Chace Crawford who plays The Deep in The Boys is kind of like a morally corrupt version of DC’s Aquaman that has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Just like the majority of Vought International’s The Seven, The Deep is a scumbag on so many levels.

Having powers similar to Aquaman, The Deep takes it one step further and is more than willing to have romantic relations with sea creatures, such as an octopus voiced by Tilda Swinton. To put it simply, The Deep has sex multiple times with the octopus which is perhaps taken a step further in episode three of season four.

When speaking to Rolling Stone (thanks, NME), Chace Crawford revealed that the thought of having sex with the octopus in the episode in question nearly gave him a panic attack after reading its script.

“Oh God, how’s this going to work?” Crawford asked himself. “I was in total denial about it. And then it got 24 hours out from the first day I had to shoot it and I almost had a panic attack.”

Crawford asked showrunner Eric Kripke how the logistics of a scene such as this one would work as well as the camera angles and how naked he’d have to be. Thankfully, the scene went well (all things considered) and Crawford described it as being “funny and weird.”

The Boys season four is currently on its sixth episode with its final two episodes premiering on Amazon Prime Video on 11 and 17 July, respectively.
