Star Wars fans broken over ‘painful’ death we’ll never be over

It still breaks my heart

Of all the deaths that occur across the Star Wars timeline, there are several that hit hard, but with the third film in the prequel trilogy currently showing in cinemas across the world, one death still has fans reeling.

A lot of people, mostly Jedis, die in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, but it’s Mace Windu’s death that haunts many of us.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is showing in cinemas currently.

In a recent tweet, one fan who saw the film again as part of its current cinema run posted to social media saying, “Mace Windu’s death in Revenge of the Sith still crushes me. I could feel the theatre’s anxiety throughout this moment [...] This was Anakin’s point of no return. Two decades later, it’s still painful to watch.”

Though it’s a pretty awesome fight scene, the final moments for Windu are horrible as he’s zapped with lightning by Palpatine, then launched out the window of a tall senate building.

“1,000,000x more impactful than anything that Disney has put out,” claims one Twitter user.

Since the scene originally debuted, many don’t believe Windu to be dead, including actor Samuel L. Jackson.

“I didn’t see any death. I saw a fall from a building by a Jedi. Jedi that are literally trained to fall from terminal velocities and land gracefully,” comments a fan.

Star Wars has officially kept quiet on the fate of Mace Windu, maybe so the character can make a comeback at some point.

He perhaps deserves more story to flesh out his history, and many fans would welcome it, including this one who said, “I always think about how Mace Windu was the only Jedi that overcame the emperor one on one.”

The impact of the death is still felt, so many years later, and the audience has a chance to mourn him all over again.
