Come on now, no one seriously thought the final season of The Boys would be anything but controversial, right?

We’ve become used to The Boys creating discourse amongst both its die-hard fans and casual viewers.

Arguably, it’s what makes the series such a unique and entertaining experience.

Season four hasn’t long been finished, yet the grand finale for Amazon’s hit show is said to be an “explosive” one.

With such a promise of gripping entertainment also comes the reality that controversial deaths are going to feature heavily throughout.

This has seemingly been confirmed according to a Total Film interview shared on Twitter with The Boys’ showrunner Eric Kripke.

“There will probably be lots of deaths ... So many series finales suck ... I feel lots and lots of pressure to end it well,” Kripke said.

“If we can stick the landing then people will be like, 'that was a great show'... but if we sh*t the bed, people will say, 'Oh, it was a good show, but then they sh*t the bed.”

Although no specific names were given, Kripke made it clear that no one is safe when it comes to the Death Reaper’s scythe.

“There's no guarantee of who is going to survive because you don't have to keep them for another season... We can have really shocking, big things happen all the time,” they explained.

As far as some fans are concerned, this is a wise move from the showrunner.

Twitter user Dorian said, “Kripke’s playin' it smart. kill off everyone, no spinoffs. people’ll cry, but deep down they’ll know it’s genius.

Obviously, there are already spin-offs in the works, however, the same user argues that a brutal finale will provide a “clean wipe”.

“As long as it’s dark, gritty, and over the top like the rest of the seasons I’ll be satisfied haha,” commented EMAC.

Fans are hyped, but that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily enjoy the chaos of the final season once it airs.

Who will live? It seems everyone has the potential to bite it this time.
