The Boys creator tells misogynistic fans to 'eat a bag of d**ks'

The creator of Amazon hit The Boys has hit back at misogynistic trolls after telling them to “eat a bag of d**ks* in response to their hateful tirade against star Erin Moriarty.

Airing for the first time in 2019, The Boys has gone on to become one of Amazon’s most highly-rated shows with the series giving a unique spin on the superhero genre. However, with a genre as gatekept as this, it is perhaps no surprise that misogynistic fans are unhappy with one of the show’s stars.

Played by Erin Moriarty, Annie January aka Starlight is a member of the Seven, a group of superheroes that make up the show. However, compared to her male counterparts, both Starlight and Moriarty herself were hit with a series of misogynistic comments back in 2022 which led to the actor taking a stand.

In September of last year, Moriarty reposted a fan article which pointed out all of the misogynistic hate that both character and actor had received since appearing in The Boys. Although the repost has since been taken down, it can still be found online.

“The harassment feels all the worse given the context of her role as Starlight on the show, a woman silenced and sexualised, treated like a celebrity canvas for others to project onto rather than a human being with her own thoughts and feelings,” the article reads. “But Annie is fictional, and Erin is not. The torment doesn’t end for her when the credit starts, because there is no switch off.”

The article was reported by Variety which then saw The Boys’ creator Eric Kripke repost to his own Twitter account. He followed up the report by saying: “Hi trolls! One, this is literally the opposite of the show's f**king message. Two, you're causing pain to real people with real feelings. Be kind. If you can't be kind, then eat a bag of d**ks, f**k off to the sun & don't watch The Boys, we don't want you.”

It’s safe to say Kripke is unhappy and understandably so. Let us hope this ridiculous tirade doesn’t continue for The Boys’ recent spin-off show, Gen V.
