Star Wars fans convinced Yoda's species name has been in front of us for years

Hmmm. In plain sight, hidden.

Star Wars fans are convinced that the name of Yoda’s species has been right in front of us the whole time.

Despite being one of the most popular characters in the world of TV and film, and not just in the Star Wars universe, there’s quite a lot that we don’t know about the Jedi Master Yoda.

We were first introduced to this small green dude in 1980’s Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, and from that moment forth, he’s continued to win over the hearts of millions of fans all from over the world.

There has been tons of speculation and various theories about Yoda’s home planet and truth be told, probably only the creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, knows for sure what the lore is.

It’s also possible that Lucas never created a home planet for Yoda, thus his species is shrouded in mystery to this day.

However, Reddit user Goldman250 believes they might know the name of Yoda’s species.

“I think Yoda’s species is called the Je’daii. Much like the Sith was a species at first, I think the Je’daii were the original Force users and creators of the Jedi Order,” explained Goldman250.

“Over the years, the name Je’daii became synonymous with the Order, until the species’ name got forgotten, and all people remember is the Jedi.”

“I think the lack of a name is what makes it important,” replied Tuckertcs. “It adds mystery to a fictional world that otherwise answers every possible question, such that there’s almost no mystery left.”

It's an interesting point. The Je'daii Order is an ancient organisation and is believed to be the ones that unified the Force. It also makes sense that over the centuries, much like words of the human language, the way some are spelt and pronounced can change.

Plus, what better species to be the originators of the Jedi Order than the one relating to Yoda and Grogu?

We may never know the truth of their species, but I agree with what Tuckertcs said about the importance of mystery in the Star Wars universe.
