Star Wars Legend Yoda's Species Name is Actually Genius, According to One Theory

Will this be confirmed in The Mandalorian & Grogu?

Star Wars fans are going bonkers over a theory that revolves around the name of Yoda’s species, and it’s honestly so good that I wouldn’t mind if it ends up being canon.

Pop quiz: what’s Yoda’s species officially referred to as on Wookiepedia?

If you answered “Yoda’s species”, then congratulations, you’ve officially spent way too much time on the internet!

If you answered “I have no idea”, then, technically, you’d also be correct, because there is literally no official source in Star Wars that states what the name of Yoda’s species is.

There have been hundreds of theories about this over the years, and the theorising has increased even more ever since Disney bought the rights to the Star Wars IP.

However, there's only one theory that I actually like, and it comes from a post over on the r/StarWars subreddit.

“It has always been my personal headcanon that the name for Yoda’s species is important. Star Wars is a world where everything has a name, that one random guy in the background of a cantina scene has a longer Wookieepedia page than most Wikipedia pages”, writes user Goldman250.

“All this to say, I think Yoda’s species is called the Je’daii. Much like the Sith was a species first, I think the Je’daii were the original Force users and creators of the Jedi Order, and over the years the name Je’daii became synonymous with the Order, until the species’ name got forgotten and all people remember is the Jedi.”

Now there’s a fan theory I can get behind, for once.

Turns out I’m not the only one who likes the sound of this either, as a bunch of people in the thread have decided to add this one to their own personal head canon.

“This is one of the rare fan theories I've read here that makes perfect sense. I wouldn't mind this at all”, commented user inkyblinkypinkysue.

“New headcanon unlocked”, replied user dirtyColeslaw1776.

Of course, this is still just a theory. From what I can tell, nothing in the Star Wars canon directly supports this idea.

That being said, Disney have been hyping up some kind of big reveal for their upcoming film, The Mandalorian and Grogu. There is always the chance that they could finally put this theory to rest, and reveal to us exactly where both Grogu and Yoda originated from.

Oh, and Yaddle too, I guess. God forbid I forget about Yaddle.
