Star Wars: The Acolyte fans are being urged to mark their calendars for 29th July.

It’s been just over a year since The Acolyte debuted on our TV screens, and while the show didn’t quite get the audience it deserved, we’re still a little upset we may not see the rest of the story unfold on screen.

There’s always hope for the show to continue in other forms though. Books, video games, audio dramas – there are plenty of ways for Star Wars to address any unanswered questions from The Acolyte.

Luckily, a new book published by Hyperion seems to be doing exactly that.

Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown is set after the events of the show and features the characters Yord and Jecki, who were played by Charlie Barnett and Dafne Keen.

Written by adult and YA author Tessa Gratton, the book is described as “Star Wars meets The Hunger Games”. The official blurb reads:

“While their Jedi Masters clean up a political mess left behind by one of their own, Jedi Padawan Jecki and her least favorite fellow Padawan Yord are drawn into a planet-wide coming-of-age ritual as featured guests.

“But when things unexpectedly turn deadly, Jecki and Yord will have to use all of their abilities and work together to keep each other--and their new friends--safe.”

The book will be 448 pages and is aimed at teenagers and young adults, but it should be a good read for anyone who enjoyed The Acolyte when it was airing on Disney Plus.

This isn’t the first Star Wars book that Gratton has penned.

She has also written several books in The High Republic series, including Temptation of the Force, Path of Deceit, and Defy the Storm.

The Crystal Crown is set for release in book shops and online retailers on 29th July, 2025.
