Over the course of many years, we’ve only seen a few different characters from Yoda’s species, and it has often intrigued fans.

George Lucas wanted the origin of Yoda to be kept a secret, and has never revealed anything about the Jedi master’s home world, leaving Star Wars fans guessing.

Since Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back, we’ve seen two other characters from Yoda’s planet; Yaddle, who is also present at the Jedi temple, and Grogu, who is lost in the galaxy and accompanying The Madalorian.

This absence of more characters had one fan head over to Reddit to ask if Yoda kept the secret of his home planet a secret within the franchises' universe.

There are a few theories, but the top reply gives the best answer, and it’s one that conjures feelings of sadness.

FluffyProphet writes, “According to the complete visual dictionary, Yoda kept it an absolute secret. No one outside his species would have any clue where to even start looking for them.”

One Redditor theorises that Grogu is the next ‘most powerful Jedi’ in the galaxy and, “Yaddle was charged with bringing him back to the republic, but upon her return she greeted not by the republic or Jedi council, but the empire!”

I like this idea, as it plays into the story being set up in The Mandalorian.

Before Grogu showed up, I always assumed that Yoda’s home planet was destroyed in a war, hundreds of years ago, and he fled the destruction with only a few of his species.

All we really know is that Yoda, and perhaps Yaddle, left the planet and would never return.

It’s a secret that many fans hope never gets revealed, leaving the mystery intact from decades ago.

It’s still heartbreaking to think that Yoda would never see more of this people, and that could be due to their destruction.
