Now the sequel trilogy might not have ended up being everything us Star Wars fans wanted it to be, but some of the ways that the films expanded on the existing lore and characters was pretty cool.
The most obvious example of that may well be the Knights of Ren, the group of dark side warriors led by the Force user who gave them their name, Kylo Ren, who it later emerges is the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa.
In the first two sequel movies, the Knights only appear via flashback, with Kylo Ren described as their leader. In Rise of Skywalker, the Knights turn on Ren under the orders of a resurrected Palpatine, after their leader rejoins the light side of the Force.
Since their introduction, Star Wars writers in all mediums have been expanding on their backstory, fleshing out their presence in the galaxy far, far away, and in particular explaining what they were up to during the first two sequel films.

As first reported by Screen Rant, comic Legacy of Vader #8 shows that the moment we see in the film thanks to Rey's vision, takes place just before he abandons his soldiers for the first time. Immediately after that, Supreme Leader Snoke demands that Kylo Ren joins him in leading the First Order towards galactic domination.
After Ren agrees, the Knights were supposed to be killed, though they escaped and essentially spent the first two movies in hiding, as a hugely powerful Snoke and Ren began to carry out their plans elsewhere.
In the meantime, the Knights were being led by a new figure in Tava Ren, who seeks to kill Kylo and restore the unit to their former glory.
Though we know the endgame here (at least until the end of Rise of Skywalker), the Knights of Ren should remain a deep vein for lore finders for some time to come.
