Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Sequel Plans Leak, And People Aren't Thrilled

Let's not start pretending the prequel trilogy is any better...

According to one insider, the next mainline Star Wars film, a Daisy Ridley led project tentatively titled New Jedi Order, is building towards something big… but fans already aren’t happy about it.

There have been a lot of rumours and misinformation floating around regarding Disney’s Rey-focused sequel to Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, to the point that many assumed it had been cancelled entirely.

The initial reports back in 2024 stated that the film had been shelved, although it was later clarified that it had simply been delayed.

This clarification came via Ridley herself, who revealed in an interview with ComicBook (back in February) that the script was still being worked on.

“I have not read the latest script, but I know what’s happening, and I know the story, and I think what feels really good is that George is a phenomenal writer,” Ridley stated.

“I think we’re making sure that this story is the best way, this script is the best way to tell the story, and I think it will be worthwhile.”

A new leak from insider DanielRPK (via a Twitter post from Star Wars Holocron) states that the New Jedi Order film is going to be the first film in a post-Episode IX era, stating that it “will be similar to the Mandoverse with multiple stories” and that it will “build toward a culminating event that brings back old characters".

Naturally, because they hate everything, Star Wars fans aren’t too thrilled at the prospect.

“Praying this will be good even if I'm expecting to get my heart broken like Padme”, commented user @caffeinemilktea.

“They should just retcon the whole sequel trilogy and use George Lucas’ original story treatments”, replied user @henrybenedict_X.

Alright, guys, whatever your opinion is on the sequel trilogy… let’s pretend that the prequel trilogy is somehow any better.

I’m pretty mixed about the sequel trilogy too, but good lord, when was the last time you actually watched all three prequel films? Because if you take off the rose-tinted shades, you might find that you’d be equally disappointed in another trilogy penned by George Lucas.
