Star Wars fans in love with new Obi-Wan, Anakin reunion: 'this goes hard'

Oh this is very cool

What I’m about to say may be a tad controversial but Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn’t rank too highly on my list if we’re talking about Star Wars’ Disney Plus output.

It’s entertaining and I did enjoy the series but if we’re being honest, it was a tad too fan-service driven for me.

As nostalgic and emotional as it was to see Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker reunited, it’s series like The Acolyte, Andor, and Skeleton Crew, that tell original stories, that do it for me.

While it might not exactly be my ideal cup of tea, I do still fully understand the yearning for content that revisits the Star Wars of yesteryear.

That’s why it hasn’t surprised me one bit that fans are clamouring over this latest piece of official art, released ahead of the next Star Wars Celebration event.

Designed by Japanese artist TAKUMI, the poster adds a samurai flair to Obi-Wan and Anakin’s infamous duel on Mustafar.

ICYMI: We recently sat down with the cast and creatives of the fantastic Skeleton Crew.

It isn’t the only piece TAKUMI has created for the event, as the artist has also released a similarly styled poster featuring Rey and Kylo Ren, although it’s the Obi-Wan and Anakin edition that’s got fans talking.

“This goes hard,” wrote Reddit user JayQuips.

“That Obi-Wan / Anakin art is incredible,” added TaraLCicora.

“Not lore accurate as Obi-Wan doesn’t have the high ground,” joked fooldomus.

Star Wars Celebration returns from 18 to 20 April - this time being held in Chiba, Japan.

Hopefully, as usual, the event will bring us plenty of exciting film and TV announcements.

It would be great to get some concrete news on that Rey film which seems to be floundering.

I’m personally hoping for a renewal of Skeleton Crew but I do worry a few too many people were sleeping on the show.

Of course, whatever is announced, you can rely on us to bring you the latest news.
