Despite being a Galaxy far, far away, Star Wars content is racing towards our consoles at intergalactic speeds in 2027, and with it comes a range of the franchise's best protagonists.
Just last week, Disney revealed that multiple new instalments of the Cal Kestis adventures will be coming to our consoles in the near future, adding to the list of upcoming games like Galaxy Racer and Zero Company.
The latter, a new turn-based experience following the story of a boots-on-the-ground Mandalorian x Jedi Padawan duo, had its release date confirmed for this August, and there's a familiar face reappearing in the Clone Wars timeline.
Anakin Skywalker is coming back, but there's zero room for his company to stick around.
Zero Company strays away from the usual saber-slinging combat that we see in countless Star Wars titles, focusing on the niche story of a 'gritty and authentic' squad as they help turn the tide in a hyper-focused area of a wider conflict.

Despite being a small section of an otherwise universal war, Zero Company's story has been confirmed to attract the attention of the biggest players.
Anakin Skywalker, back in blue, was an unlikely candidate for Zero Company, knowing his key predisposition with Obi-Wan and Ahsoka in the Clone Wars, but he was confirmed to be arriving as a character.
However, the confusing addition was played down on the Star Wars blog, as it was revealed that the powerful Jedi won't be featured for long, just one mission.
"The new gameplay trailer takes us inside the Clone Wars as we’ve never seen before, where pivotal battles are fought in the shadows, not on the front lines," reads the blog.
"But you’ll still encounter a familiar face or two from this era in Star Wars storytelling. As glimpsed in the trailer, Jedi General Anakin Skywalker is also on a crucial mission, and his path briefly crosses with the Zero Company crew. Their intel and tactical expertise are just what he needs to get the job done. That’s right: This is where the fun begins.

Many players voiced their pleasure that Anakin isn't stealing the show, saying it would have been a strange power balance.
"So basically confirmed that Anakin will just be a guest star for one mission. Unsurprising, he's way too OP to be a permanent Zero Company member lol," one person said on Reddit.
Another added, "If you do get to use Anakin rather than him being an NPC controlled by the computer or something, I hope there's an achievement like 'Accidentally Saved The Galaxy' if you get him killed."
Other fans have been pleasantly surprised, claiming that Anakin's arrival could spark further post-launch guest appearances.
" I like the idea of canon characters crossing paths with Zero company - hope that means we might have Ahsoka turn up, or some of the bounty hunters from the Clone Wars era. Maybe even…a pirate?" a third fan said.
Given the timing of Zero Company, Ahsoka would be the most likely candidate, but don't rule out some equally fascinating names.
