Star Wars Celebration is just around the corner, and the anticipation is palpable.

It’s purposeful that I’ve chosen the word ‘anticipation’ over, say, ‘excitement’.

Fair to say, Lucasfilm and Disney have ruffled a few feathers as of late with their decision making.

The Acolyte was cancelled, for example, with many still holding out hope for a last minute renewal.

And then there’s Skeleton Crew, my personal favourite of the Star Wars shows outside of Andor, which has its fate still hanging in the balance.

If The Acolyte’s cancellation is anything to go by, I don’t fancy its chances, and that’s a great shame.

ICYMI: Andor will soon return for its second and final season.

Star Wars Celebration is the place where we’ll likely find out for sure the final fate of both shows.

We should also receive some updates on the various announced films within the franchise.

There’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, Simon Kinberg’s trilogy, and the new Rey film, with James Mangold, Dave Filoni, Shawn Levy, and Taika Waititi’s projects also believed to still be in development.

The problem is that fans simply don’t feel very trusting when it comes to Lucasfilm anymore.

So often are films announced and then never heard of again that it’s hard to get hyped about anything until a trailer actually lands confirming it to be real.

Both Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron and Rian Johnson’s trilogy, for example, seem to have suffered that fate.

“Less than 50% of these will actually happen,” wrote Reddit user TwistedNightlight, responding to Star Wars’ supposed upcoming slate.

“I'm really so over the Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney 'Upcoming Productions' announcements. I don't need to know about stuff that's coming out five to 10 years from now. And like you said, most of them won't even make it to production,” replied LegendaryOutlaw.

“It's hard to look forward to something that has a vague description to what it even is,” commented WhatIsASunAnyway.

I quite agree with all of the above.

Well, Star Wars Celebration will be held from 18 to 20 April so let’s hope it delivers some satisfying reveals.
