Star Wars quietly bringing back a fan-favourite prequel lead, says insider

Star Wars is reportedly bringing back a character we haven’t seen since the prequels, and it’s possibly the last person you’d expect.

In fairness there are plenty of characters to choose from, like Mace Windu, who many fans are adamant is still alive and kicking somewhere in the Star Wars galaxy.

That’s not who’s apparently on the cards for the next season of Ahsoka though, which is reportedly going ahead with production sometime in the future.

Ahsoka’s first season hit us right in the feels by bringing back Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, in not only a flashback to the Clone Wars but also as a spiritual guide at a pivotal point in the series.

The show’s second season is reportedly aiming to bring back his other half for S2, Padme Amidala, if the show can secure Natalie Portman that is.

Reports have it that Portman is very close to signing a deal to return, and if that’s the case we’re likely getting more flashbacks to Ahsoka’s history as a Jedi.

Take this with a pinch of salt though as other reports are saying she’s not being asked to return at all.

Whether Padme will stick around for a few episodes or not is yet to be seen but if it’s just for a flashback that seems unlikely, unless there’s an entire episode set around an Ahsoka and Padme story we hadn’t seen before.

Either way it’s all very exciting, as the prequel films weren’t well-received when they originally came out and it’s led to the triumphant return of many characters to the franchise, most notably Ahmed Best who played Jar-Jar Binks.

The second season of Ahsoka will reportedly go into production later this year, so all we can do now is wait and see who’s joining the crew.
