Star Wars is bringing back a fan favourite character for its The Force Awakens prequel, which should excite fans of the sequel trilogy.

Now ten years old, The Force Awakens is a significant part of Star Wars history.

Not only did it signal the beginning of Disney's control over the franchise, but it also introduced the main characters that form the Sequel Era of the Skywalker Saga: Rey, Finn, and Poe.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will soon be a decade old.

While each character has not made any major appearances in Star Wars media outside of the films, one character in particular is set to make a comeback in a new The Force Awakens prequel.

At Star Wars Celebration last weekend, Lucasfilm Publishing announced Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories — Codebreaker, a new four-issue comic book series featuring Poe Dameron and BB-8.

It'll be written by Ethan Sacks, with art by Marc Yarza, Jose Marzan Jr., and Nicola Righi. It's also being published by Dark Horse Comics.

Expect the series to delve into Poe's backstory before The Force Awakens.

The first look that we have so far shows him on a daring rescue mission while disguised as a First Order officer, before piloting his X-Wing starfighter while under heavy fire.

The first issue, Codebreaker #1, is set for release on 30th April, with three more issues following it.

Naturally, expect a paperback and eBook collection to also release following the series' conclusion.

Poe Dameron was played by Oscar Isaac in the three films that make up Star Wars' Sequel trilogy, who was praised by critics and fans for his roguish portrayal of the starfighter ace.

While the actor is yet to reprise his role in any new film or TV projects, fans hope they could one day see Isaac return to the role.

Before Star Wars, Isaac was known for his roles in thrillers such as Drive and Ex Machina. Following his last appearance as Poe Dameron, he appeared as Duke Leto Atreides in Dune and the titular Marvel hero in the Disney Plus series Moon Knight.

Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories — Codebreaker #1 will release in stores on 30th April, 2025.
