Star Wars is about to enter a new era, as several Disney-led films and TV shows are on the way over the next few years.
While films like The Mandalorian And Grogu and Star Wars: Starfighter are very exciting, it'll be the next mainline trilogy that paves the way for the future of the franchise - and there’s been an important development for its cast.
Mark Hamill, famed for playing the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, before reprising his role in the Disney sequels, has said he probably won’t return as Luke again.

He’s put on the Jedi robes quite a few times in recent years, but it sounds like he’s content with hanging them up permanently for the time being.
In an interview with ComicBook, Hamill was asked about future Star Wars appearances and said: “I am so grateful to George [Lucas] for letting me be a part of that back in the day, the humble days when George called Star Wars ‘the most expensive low-budget movie ever made'."
He continued: “We never expected it to become a permanent franchise and a part of pop culture like that. But my deal is, I had my time. I’m appreciative of that, but I really think they should focus on the future and all the new characters.”
I don’t know about anyone else but I think that’s one of the biggest problems the Disney sequels had; the brand-new characters were always going to be overshadowed by the returning favourites.

It’s said that Rey’s story isn’t over yet, and I hope that’s true as I’d love to see how her new Jedi Order is coming along, and it’d be great to see Finn return too, perhaps training under Rey as a Jedi like he was always supposed to.
Let’s see what the future holds, but I’m fully in agreement with Mark Hamill, we need to focus on new characters - and it sounds as if the next trilogy will do just that.
