Hopefully, it will be better than the last trilogy

Star Wars reportedly has a new trilogy already in the works that will take place after Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker.

When Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens arrived in 2015, it had so much promise for what was dubbed the sequel trilogy. The Force Awakens is a fantastic film in my opinion, and most certainly rekindled my love for the sci-fi movie franchise.

Then, Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi arrived two years later, and to put it mildly, this movie was an absolute mess, in my opinion. Despite its best efforts to fix its predecessor, by the time Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker was released in 2019, it never stood a chance.

It’s fair to say that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was not the conclusion to the sequel trilogy that most fans of the franchise would have wanted. That’s unless you’re the type of person who loves to see the world burn.

Despite that mess that the sequel trilogy hadsleft, that’s not to say that we fans have lost faith in the franchise (despite some horrid series on Disney Plus). With The Mandalorian & Grogu, Star Wars: Starfighter and Star Wars: New Jedi Order on the horizon, we will still live in hope.

The Mandalorian & Grogu and Star Wars: New Jedi Order are currently set to be standalone movies, but as reported by The Direct (as per MyTimeToShineHello), there are plans for a separate new trilogy.

The beginning of the new trilogy is set to kickstart with Star Wars: Starfighter, which has Ryan Gosling as its main lead. What’s more, MyTimeToShineHello also teased, with information provided by anonymous sources, that this movie will have a “big cameo”.

There is no mention as to who this “big cameo” will be, but it’s probably a safe bet that it might be someone from the sequel trilogy. After all, most of the main characters from the previous trilogies are no longer alive.

The majority of the fan-favourite characters from the sequel trilogy are still alive, such as Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

That being said, it’s important to take all unconfirmed rumours with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. But we’ll let you know if we hear any further details.

Star Wars: Starfighter is currently set to be released on 28 May 2027 and takes place five years after The Rise of Skywalker.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order takes place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and is slated to release on 17 December 2027, with Rey set to return. As for The Mandalorian & Grogu, it will arrive on 22 May 2026.
