breaking news

Finally, Disney and Lucasfilm have dropped the very first public trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu.
I say 'public' as one trailer did previously drop back at Star Wars Celebration but it was only shown to attendees behind closed doors.
Very grainy videos of the trailer did appear online in the days following its debut but most were swiftly taken down.
Star Wars Celebration was held all the way back in April, so to say that the reveal of a full trailer was long overdue is an understatement.

That's especially the case when you consider just how long ago season three of The Mandalorian was.
That landed in 2023, two years ago.
What is now The Mandalorian and Grogu was originally going to play out as a fourth season, so it'll be interesting to see how the show's formula has been adapted for the silver screen.
You can get a glimpse of that for yourself in the brand new trailer below which is believed to be completely different to what was shown at Star Wars Celebration all those months ago.
Well, consider me impressed.

I've always found The Mandalorian's reliance on 'The Volume' a tad irritating; for the uninitiated, it's a filming space utilised by Lucasfilm that's essentially surrounded by screens, allowing for environments to be virtually displayed.
There's something so special about having a practical set though. What you see on screen appears much more vibrant.
Sit down and compare, say, Skeleton Crew or Andor to The Mandalorian. You'll quickly notice the difference.
Thankfully, it looks like the film will use more practical sets whilst not totally leaving the volume behind.

There's very little you can glimpse about the plot, but I'm thrilled to see Grogu is still trying to steal every snack in sight.
And he's got a tiny little telescope, aw.
Din Djarin looks to kick plenty of butt in the trailer.
I bet we're all wondering whether he'll take his helmet off again. While there's no such glimpse of that in the trailer, I'd be surprised if he didn't.

Yes, it breaks his code, but you can't tell me that Lucasfilm and Disney want to keep Pedro Pascal's handsome face locked away for the entirety of the movie.
In a blink and you'll miss it shot, the trailer does offer us our first glimpse at Jeremy Allen White's Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt.
Sigourney Weaver's Ward also appears; in fact, this is whom Grogu is trying to steal a snack from.
Ward is supposedly a veteran Rebel Alliance pilot and colonel of the New Republic's Adelphi Rangers.

As for the who the main villain is, well, we don't actually know.
Many online suspect it's Embo, a bounty hunter viewers of The Clone Wars may know, but nothing has been outright confirmed.
I bet diehards are scouring the new trailer right now for confirmation or clues.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to be released on 22 May 2026.
